Collection: Vascular Tests
Vascular tests are diagnostic procedures used to assess the health and function of the body's blood vessels, including arteries and veins. These tests help detect conditions such as blockages, blood clots, aneurysms, and other vascular disorders that can affect blood circulation. When performed as point-of-care (POC) tests, they provide rapid, on-site results, allowing for immediate decision-making regarding a patient’s vascular health.
The D-dimer test is a blood test that measures the presence of D-dimer, a protein fragment produced when a blood clot dissolves in the body. It is commonly used to help rule out or diagnose conditions related to abnormal blood clot formation, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
The D-dimer test is a valuable tool for detecting and ruling out blood clot-related conditions. While it’s not a definitive diagnostic test, it plays a critical role in helping clinicians determine whether further testing is needed to confirm the presence of dangerous clots, especially in patients at risk of conditions like DVT, PE, or DIC.
